HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is one of the most popular non-surgical ways to lift and tighten the skin. At Self Care with Karine in Engadine, Karine uses HIFU to target the deeper supportive layers of the skin, the same layers addressed in a surgical lift, without needles, cuts or time off work.

Focused ultrasound energy gently heats tiny points beneath the surface. This encourages your skin to produce new collagen, so the face, jawline and neck look firmer and more lifted as the weeks go by. Who is HIFU for?

What happens during your HIFU treatment?

Your appointment begins with a skin consultation so Karine understands your goals and can check HIFU is right for you. Your skin is cleansed, a cool gel is applied and the HIFU handpiece is moved over the treatment areas in a series of precise lines.

You may feel warm, tingling points of energy, which most people find very manageable. A face treatment usually takes around 45 to 60 minutes, and you can return to your normal day straight away.

Karine offers HIFU for the face, the face and neck, and the face, neck and décolletage. HIFU can also be combined with LED light therapy to calm and support the skin after treatment.

How long do HIFU results last?

Because HIFU stimulates your own collagen, results build over two to three months and typically last a year or more. Many clients book a top-up treatment once a year to maintain their lift.

Does HIFU hurt?

Most clients describe HIFU as warm, prickly or tingling points of energy. It is generally well tolerated, and Karine adjusts the treatment to keep you comfortable.

Is there any downtime after HIFU?

There is no downtime. Some people have mild redness or tenderness for a few hours, and you can go straight back to work or your day.

How many HIFU treatments will I need?

Many people see a lovely result after one treatment. Karine will recommend a plan based on your skin, which may include a second session or combining HIFU with LED light therapy.
